This is a very rare print depicting a busy Japanese city street. Circa late 18th century. Utamaro was a Japanese artist. Hes one of the most highly regarded designers of ukiyo-e woodblock prints and paintings, is best known for his pictures of women, cityscapes. He also produce nature studies particular illustrated books of insects. He produced over 2000 prints and it was one of the few artists to achieve fame throughout Japan in his lifetime.
