Shiro Kasamatsu (born in 1898) was a Japanese woodblock print artist, often referred to as’the last Shin-hanga artist. This woodblock print, first published by Shiro Kasamatsu in 1953, depicts a serene riverside scene along the Katase River (now known as the Sakai River), with the moon rising in the background, evoking a sense of quiet emotion and atmosphere. Antique Japanese Ukiyoe Woodblock Print. This is a Japanese woodblock print Ukiyoe by Yoshikazu Utagawa. The title of the kanji characters say Tokyo Akasaka Shinmachi. Ukiyoe is a genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties, kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers, scenes from history and folk tales, travel scenes and landscapes, flora and fauna, and erotica.
