Considered one of the most prolific of ukiyo-e “pictures of the floating world” masters. He distinguished himself as a man of imaginative genius and a leading figure of ukiyo-e. “The Great Wave Off Kanagawa” is from the series The Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji and is the most famous and powerful one in the series. Limited to 100 prints, each print is hand numbered. The image size is 24″ X 17″. The paper size is 30″ x 22″. The image is printed Giclee on mould-made, 100% cotton rag watercolor paper imported from France, and is printed using specially engineered ink technology for optimum image quality and over 100 years of lightfastness. We use the same printer as the Museum of Fine Art in Boston. Giclee is a high-resolution digital print that is created by a series of tiny jets spraying millions of droplets of printing ink onto the highest quality archival artists’ paper. The spray generates more than four million droplets of ink per second; hence, the name Giclee, which is French for fine spray. A precise computer control panel insures consistency of hue, value, and density. Giclees are of such phenomenal quality that even some art experts have difficulty telling a Giclee from an original. This fact has prompted museums and collectors to substitute Giclees for originals, thereby safeguarding priceless works in vaults. Since the Giclee process produces a combination of 512 chromatic changes (with over three and one-half million colors possible) and the resolution is two to three times that of lithographs serigraphy, a Giclee captures every nuance of an original. Guaranteed to be in mint/new condition. The result is a stunning work, handsome, moody and would look great with any decor. Get this investment quality original print now! ORIGINAL Asian Japanese Woodblock Block Print LOT. Over the last few weeks I acquired a huge collection of gorgeous Japanese Antiquities from an incredible estate here in Ocala. PLEASE look at pics carefully!! The first several pics are the better ones; the last, poor condition. There are a couple other oddities Ill throw in as well(not in pics) along with a really great real block print book as seen. Name of book is The battles between Japan & China. Nice old book and very colorful battles. Back to the actual prints, there are 85. There are a few duplicates. Again, pics here are your best description. I was told by two different people now including an appraiser out of Tampa of this stuff that these are basically all mid 19th C. I honestly dont know a thing about them. Youre welcome to ask any question you may have but most likely I wont be able to help you. Youre the buyers and experts so will leave it up to you. Lastly, all of these prints and possessions were acquired by a Journalist and chief editing officer of Stars & Stripes forever. He and his wife lived in Japan during the Vietnam war and reported on the war. He passed away this past January at 93. My understanding was that a lot of these antiques were given to he and his wife from leaders and higher up officials from all over. I do have pics of him with President Nixon, Carol Burnett, Mohammad Ali, Mae West, and many Japanese leaders.
