Kuniyoshi -Satomi Hakkenden Kaei 7 / 1854 These are two books from the complete “Nanso Satomi Hakkenden” series, which includes 9 series, 98 volumes, and 106 books. These two volumes, consisting of an upper and lower volume, form a single picture when placed side by side. It is quite rare and comes with the original paper bag used for storing the books at the time. It’s believed that there are around 106 volumes in total, and the series is popular as reading material even in kana. This volume is in quite good condition, especially rare for a book that was generally available 170 years ago. It has some warping at the bottom corner where pages are turned, but it’s unusual to find one preserved so well. Although I’ve come across several volumes from this series, this one is particularly remarkable for its vivid coloring and lack of wormholes. Kuniyoshi– Kansei 9 (1797) – Bunkyu 1 (1861) Ukiyo-e artist. There are no tears, but there are stains. There is a crease at the bottom corner where the page is turned.
