RARE PRINT BY UTAGAWA HIROSHIGE. “The Willow at Shimbara Exit”. Professionally Framed and with linen off white satin. Wood oriental bamboo cut w/ gold accents frame. Photos of the print are of it taken out/and in the frame and glass. Measurements: 9 ” X 13″. X15 (w/ non print bordered). W/ Frame 18 1/4 X 13 1/4. Woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige (17971858) (reprint) -’Shimabara deguchi no yanagi’ (The Willow at Shimabara Exit) – from the series’Kyto meisho no uchi’ (Famous Places in Kyoto) – Japan – early 20th century (late Meiji period). Qualitatively beautiful reprint from the Meiji period (18681912) made by Utagawa Hiroshige (17971858), also known as Ando Hiroshige. Title of the print: The Willow Tree at the Gate of Shimabara Pleasure Quarter (Shimabara deguchi no yanagi), from the Famous Places in Kyoto series (Kyto meisho no uchi). Great to excellent condition, had been preserved well under glass and is professionlly framed. No tears, colors are vivid and no staining. Original publisher and publication date: Eisend (Kawash), mid 1830.
