THIS IS AN ORIGINAL EDITION OF HASUI ZOJO TEMPLE PRINT. I HAVE MORE THAN 100 OF ORIGINAL HASUI PRINTS. Since this print does not have Watanabe 6MM round seal inside image of the print, one of the other Watanabe A to G seals must have been located on the right down side of the removed margin.

Title Japanese Landscape Collection II: Amagasaki Big Shot, Kansai. Date: 1940 (Showa 15). Condition: Fine condition with holes. Size 26.5 x 39.5 cm. Born as the eldest son of a merchant of thread braided goods, his uncle was the playwright Kamanagaki Roubun. He was a student of Kaburaki Kiyokata and received the name “Tomoe” at that time. He later became acquainted with Shozaburo Watanabe, and also became interested in woodblock prints after seeing “Eight Views of Omi” by Shinsui Ito, a fellow student of Kaburaki Kiyokata. In 1918, he published the Shiobara Trilogy from the Watanabe Print Shop, and thereafter published many landscape prints throughout his life. He became a representative artist of the “new print” style.

This is a work by Kawase Tomoe Sui, one of the leading artists of new prints. Lake Kisaki is one of the three lakes of Nishina in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, located on the most downstream river. The back of the painting depicts the Ushirotateyama mountain range of the Northern Alps, and the air is extremely calm. Fog slowly drifts over the towering mountains, and there are no waves on the lake, creating a sense of calm and tranquility. There are no waves on the lake, and the air is calm and tranquil. This photograph lyrically captures the everyday life of Lake Kisaki. Many of the reprints are in relatively good condition with beautiful colors and have become popular. Born in Tokyo, Japan.
