Born in Asakusa, Tokyo in 1898, Shirani studied Japanese-style painting under Kaburaki Kiyokata at the age of 14, and continued his activities in the Tatsumi Gakkai and the Goudokai. Geisoudo began his printing career in 1952 and published more than 100 works. His works featuring various parts of Japan have been re-evaluated in recent years, and exhibitions of his works have been held in various places as the “last shin-hanga” works.
