Fuji in Clear Weather” or “Red Fuji, number 2 in his 36 Views of Mt. Fuji Series, done originally in 1831. I believe this piece is a second or third state. I just pulled this piece out of portfolio which was left to me years ago and came out of a very important Art Collection. The photos don’t really do it justice, being that the colors are more vivid and the lower forest has more of a greenish hue to it (I’m still a novice photographer). This amazing piece of Art is signed and has it’s censor mark on the border as seen in the photos. It is in Very Good Condition, with some very slight creasing in the lower right corner – very difficult to see and takes nothing away from the image itself. This piece is not laid down, is attached to a double mat (which should be replaced) and needs framing. The colors are very strong and beautiful and the image is dynamic and wonderful. The image size within the matting measures 10 1/8 inches by 15 inches and with the matting it’s 16 inches by 21 inches. This great image would make a wonderful addition to any Japanese Woodblock Collection, Asian Arts Collection or would just enhance any great home. Thank you for viewing this beautiful Japanese Woodblock, have a wonderful day and be good to one another! I, upon receiving your feedback, will reciprocate! The item “19th C. A rare collector opportunity! This fantastic print is from our Rare Print Collection. Hokusai created this stunning series in 1834 to celebrate the majesty of Mount Fuji as seen through the eyes of ordinary people. The series is, indeed, a masterwork. The great master himself considered it to be, The true essence of my art. The color enhanced Meiji edition prints of this series are some of the rarest and most sought after of all Hokusais masterworks. We are very fortunate to be able to offer this example to serious collectors. The print is of superb quality and is the finest reprint we have ever had of this work. Perhaps the most dramatic view of Mount Fuji ever created. Heavy rain drenches the little hamlet at the foot of the great mountain as a burst of lightning illuminates the night sky. This is one of the most striking images in the world of ukiyo-e art. This impressive antique print would be a wonderful choice for the serious print collector and the interior decorator. It would be striking displayed on your home or office wall. This restrike would be a superb choice for any collector. It is truly a classic image from the golden age of ukiyo-e. It was made from meticulously recarved wooden blocks and was printed using exactly the same techniques and with the same rich color and excellent detail as the original. Later edition prints like this make an exciting addition to your collection and are a wonderful way to decorate at a small fraction of the staggering cost of one from the first edition print. Matted and framed, this print would make an exquisite presentation by itself or would be an impressive addition to an arrangement with other prints. It is one you will be proud to display in your home or office and is bound to become a cherished family heirloom. Hokusai s masterworks are in the collections of many of the worlds great museums. Among them are the Metropolitan Museum of Art , New York; the Museum of Fine Arts , Boston; the Art Institute of Chicago , Chicago; the British Museum , London; the State Hermitage Museum , Saint Petersburg, Russia; and the Tokyo National Museum, Tokyo.
