In pretty nice shape as the pics show with the one on the far right not being straight in the matting and all have some foxing / discoloration to the paper like that seen in the last few pics and it comes exactly as shown. This is a VERY rare woodblock entitled “Sunset at Morigasaki” which was published by Watanabe Shozaburo in 1932. It has the appropriate “B” seal and is a well made impression. Overall size is approx. The image is about 9-3/8″ x 14-1/4″. No tears or creases, but there is an old deep blue staining at the lower right corner as you can see in the photos. Also, this was matted when I found it, and there is an obvious shadowing where the mat was. We are starting at a very low price because of these issues. Don’t let it get away! Sadao WATANABE, 1913-96 – Japanese Woodblock Print / Stencil. The Three Visitors / self-published / #6 of 70 – 1972. This image is one of the most desirable stencil prints by WATANABE. The’The Three Visitors’ overlooking Abraham and Sarah’. WATANABE’s religious series is vast and some of the images have similar subjects. The image itself is powerful and the colors are STRONG to help convey the drama. This is a LARGE print. It is attached to the mat on all sides. There is no frame or glass with this print. NOTED: As with ALL WATANABE stencils, there is some loss of the thick ink from the’wrinkling after printing’ technique. The paper size is: 23 3/4 x 35 1/4 inches or 60.3 x 89.5 cm. This is an original Japanese Woodblock print by Shiro Kasamatsu published by Watanabe. This print is titled “Suwa, Shrine” A very rare early print with the original 1930′s watanabe sausage seal on side. Most prints are found with a 6mm circle seal. This is an early printing. Comes with partial backing board with original description tag stamped by watanabe publisher. Has fading and yellowing from age, creasing in one corner and in border, tape remnants on top. Could use a nice professional cleaning. Print Size 15 1/8″ x 10 1/2″. Please look at photos for grading and condition.
