Tsukioka Kogyo (Japanese, 1869 – 1927). Original Colored Woodblock Print. “Nohga Taikan” by Tsukioka Kogyo and Sofu Matsuno. Tsukioka Kogyo was a Japanese artist of the Meiji period. From the series Nohga Taikan (“A Great Collection of Prints of Noh Plays”). 10 1/4 ” (26.2 cm) x 14 5/8 ” (37.2 cm) image size. The print is a good condition. (has some minor water spots). It refers to the technique of creating multiple pictures by transferring or transcribing ink from a woodblock that is carved into japanese style paper. For items condition please see photos and comment. Please understand that we occurred a simple check so there might be little oversight. We try to photograph and describe the condition as accurately as possible. Although, the condition of the item may be felt worse than our description due to individual subjectivity. Subject : Nishigori Takekiyo painting. Yoshitoshi produced these prints in the 1880s as. Or supplements, to certain issues of the Yamato Newspaper. These prints were distributed to subscribers. The series features illustrations of a wide variety of personalities from contemporary, and historical times. The portraits are considered exceptional in execution relative to other news. Block carvers: Suntetsudo Enkatsu, Yamamoto, 1887.

Thank you for your interest. A print by Yoshitosi Tsukioka and a print by Kunichika Toyohara are laminated together. The size of the three prints is 72 cm in width and 37.5 cm in height. The prints by Yoshitoshi Tsukioka depict scenes from the Civil War. Seinan war 1877 Kunichika print is of a Kabuki scene, but the performance is unknown.
