Toshi Yoshida Japanese Woodblock Print Nikko Temple / Pencil Signed
Author: adminMar 2
Toshi Yoshida Japanese Woodblock “Nikko”. As you can see from the photos, the paper has toned with age to a brownish color. It is framed under antiglare glass and measures approximately 17 x 15 1/2″ framed, and the viewable image size is approximately 10 x 7 1/2″. The frame is in overall good condition, and the back paper does have a couple of tears and stains, but it does not effect the artwork. It is double signed on the front as you can see in the lower margin one of them I believe is a plate signature and one is pencil signed. I believe this is an early piece, but I have not examined it out of the frame. Thanks for your interest.
1940 JIZURI Daibutsu Temple Gate by HIROSHI YOSHIDA Shin-Hanga WOODBLOCK Signed
Author: adminFeb 29
“Daibutsu Temple Gate”, a 1940 Woodblock by Hiroshi Yoshida. A piece overseen by Yoshida himself, featuring the Jizuri seal! Daibutsu Temple Gate, a later woodblock by the shin-hanga artist, was completed in 1940, and features a charming street scene outside a the Daibutsu Temple, where people co-mingle with nature. This piece, which comes framed and matted in its original frame, features the Jizuri seal. For a collector of Yoshida’s works, this is one of the most important attributes of a piece. This mark in graphite, on the middle lefthand margin, denotes that this woodblock was directly overseen by Yoshida himself, which ensures that the print is of the highest quality. Later and posthumous prints, which there are many, do not poses this seal. This work is signed and titled in pencil on the lower margin. The piece is also signed Yoshida in ink with the Hiroshi seal within the plate. This piece is in EXCELLENT condition! The woodblock itself shows very few signs of age. The frame has some surface wear, which, I feel, adds to the allure of the piece. Framed dimensions: 15 in by 20½ in; 5/8 in thick. Plate dimensions: 9¾ by 14¾ in (does not include signatures or title in margins). Your item will come from a pet and smoke-free home. If you are not satisfied, please let me know and allow me the opportunity to make it right. Thank you for looking and I look forward to having your business! It is your responsibility to return the item to me in the same condition it was sent to you.

Toshi Yoshida Woodblock Kiyomizu Temple
Author: adminFeb 9
This design was originally published in 1995 by the Yoshida Hanga Studio. We are offering a posthumously printed image, made from the original blocks, and acquired directly from the Yoshida family. While it is signed in the block, it still looks like it is pencil signed to an untrained eye. To avoid any misunderstanding, the Yoshida Hanga Studio also included the seal of the printer on the reverse. The image measures 9 5/8 x 6 3/4 inches, plus full margins. The condition is excellent. Up until his father passed away in 1950, Toshi Yoshida primarily produced works that were reminiscent of his father’s landscape prints. His later works include a wide assortment of subjects, styles and techniques. Don’t settle for a giclee or other mechanical reproduction. These woodblock prints are made using the same printing process as the original pencil signed run, under the supervision of the artist’s family and meeting their exacting standards.
