This is a woodblock print by Kawase Tosui. It is rubbed with a woodblock on a silk book (silk fabric), not on Japanese paper. Although there are only a few types and numbers, such silk-bound woodblock prints exist among Tomoe Sui’s works. Silk-bound books are usually used for hanging scroll works of old Japanese paintings. Date of production = unknown, but it is quite old. The overall size of the print paper is approximately 16 cm (length) x 9.8 cm (width) 6.2 x 3.8. Please refer to the photos. BOY & MOUNT FUJI from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. By Katsushika Hokusai (1760 – 1849). Japanese painting created in 1930, Edo Period Ukiyo e School. Ink and color on silk. Framed size is roughly 14″ long x 19.5″ wide x 1 deep. Print size shown is 9.5″ long x 13.75″ wide. Frame is black with ivory matting. Reverse has a wire for easy display. Original print is in wonderful vintage condition with only a few minor and shallow marks on the outside edge of the frame that do not even disturb the black coloring of the frame’s edge.
