Actual print size- 15 1/2″ x 10 3/8″ or 39.5cm x 26.7cm. Date of this edition. Left hand margin bears in the japanese style marking only used for first editions jozuri in japanese. Standard Unsodo printing “smudge” above middle right margin and bottom right corner margin. Please inspect all photographs as they are part of item’s condition. Usual wear for age on corners (see pictures) otherwise great condition colors are vibrant in the print itself. Floated in professional frame, the matting on the frame has a water stain and other spots, toning (but not on the work itself) Nice color. Evocative imagery with tight color registration. Japanese Woodblock Print Hand signed 1958. Woodblock print, pencil signed, 1958. Condition: Spots across the surface, see attached photos. With passepartout- 22 x 15.6 Inch’ (56 x 39.8 Cm’). Without passepartout-15.7 x 19.5 Inch’ (40 x 26.6 Cm’). Born in Aizubange, Fukushima, was a ssaku hanga artist in 20th-century Japan. In 1938, he issued his first prints in his now famous “Winter in Aizu” series. Saito was one of the first Japanese printmaking artists to have won at the São Paulo Biennale in 1951. Sait’s early works depict villages populated with local Japanese with a high degree of realism and three-dimensionality. His more mature works merge modern elements with Japanese tradition. His prints feature architecture and plant life flattened in two-dimensionality. He spent time in Paris, and did a series there. View more great items. SIGNED JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT. AME GA TEISHI SHIMASHITA A BREAK FROM RAIN. Japanese Woodblock Print is by Famous Artist Katsuyuki Nishijima. The Woodblock is Hand Signed and is Titled. Colours may Vary from one computer to an other. Katsuyuki Nishijima was born in 1945 in Yamaguchi Province of Japan. From 1964 to 1968 he studied the art of Woodblock Prints in the studio of the Mikumo publishing house in Kyoto as well as exhibiting his work with the Kyoto independent artists and in solo displays. From 1972 he focused his immense talents on limited edition woodblocks using traditional old buildings as his main subject matter. Katsuyuki Nishijima’s woodblocks come in a number of formats and the larger sizes are limited editions of usually 500, all hand signed, titled and numbered but normally never dated. He has also produced a number of open edition woodblocks since the mid 1970s which are hand signed and titled and again not dated.
