ANTIQUE EDO PERIOD “SAMURAI AND SORCERESS” TRIPTYCH JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT BY KUNISADA UTAGAWA FROM CIRCA 1860′S. It depicts a sorceress threatening to cut off a Geisha’s long hair while her Samurai lover prepares to react. The geisha in the center panel is making a “no, don’t” rhetorical gesture and a horrified attendant kneels behind the sorceress. Each panel measures 14 1/2″ x 9 1/2″ and they have good ink bleed-through, are separate and without any backing paper. The signature, publisher mark and censer seal are in each panel. This antique Japanese woodblock print triptych is in good condition. There’s a small faint black mark and a lite foxing dot in the upper-left corner and right-side corner bumps in the right panel.
