12 Kiyoshi Saito Real Woodblock Prints Boxed New Old Stock Mint Condition. Each authentic woodblock print measures 4.63 inches by 3.5 inches edge to edge while the images themselves measure 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches. This set consists of 12 different images with each one titled and numbered for the set. It comes in its original box. Each was made in the form of a card with a matching protective envelope. These are the earlier works of the famous Japanese woodblock print artist Kiyoshi Saito. They were produced on high-quality Japanese Washi paper. The age of this set is from the 1950′s and it is in mint condition. Each image is titled and numbered. In sequential order they are: 1. Haniwa, ancient pots, 2. Winter in Aizu, 4. Temple of Moss, Kyoto, 5. Love (the same image as on this box cover), 6. At an Indian village, New Mexico, 7. Winter in Aizu, 8. Lion head, Japanese carving, 11. Each and every image is suitable for framing. This would be a wonderful opportunity to own the works of this world famous Japanese modern art movement master.
Formal Name: Okyaku Zashiki Zu (Familiar customer in the tatami room). Contents: 1 Wood block print A piece from the 1918 special edition of “Ukiyo-e Ha Gashu”. The original is a print. Year of publication: 1918. Size: 17.2×26.5cm (6.8×10.4 inchi). Ukiyoe-Ha-Gashu is the first complete collection of Ukiyo-e in Japan that systematically contains handwritten Ukiyo-e. The first edition was published in 1906-08 and exhibited at the Japan-England Exposition (1910). The exquisite and luxurious woodblock printing technique, which is said to have required 200 times repeated woodblocks to complete a single print, is considered worthy of special mention in the history of Japanese woodblock printing. Ukiyoe-Ha-Gashu was published in several editions, including the first edition in a limited edition of 200 copies, a top-bound edition, and a standard edition. This is the third edition of the special top-bound edition, and according to the preface to the book, This edition has been further revised and published in response to the requests of enthusiasts. The works and color woodblock prints in this edition are not much different from those in the first limited edition. There are light stains on the paper mat. This item is not new. The climax of the battle scene in the work of the third Toyokuni depicts five shadow warriors protecting Shingen, each dressed in crimson hakama, with the famous Furinkazan banner fluttering in the background. As you may know, “Furinkazan” comes from Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, which states, Be as swift as the wind, as silent as the forest, as fierce as fire, as unshakable as the mountain. ” This is followed by the phrase, “Tenka Fubu, ” which is often misunderstood to mean “There is no equal to me in the world, but this is not the correct interpretation. “Tenka Fubu” expresses the dignity of human beings by stating that there is nothing more important than the existence of the individual “me” in this world. It implies that each individual’s existence is valuable. Shingen, who was a brilliant ruler, a master of people’s hearts, and the creator of an invincible army, had a unique banner that embodied his leadership qualities.
