The size of the woodblock only is 22 inches high by about 6 inches across. The total paper size comes to 24 3/4 inches by about 9 1/4 inches. The woodblock is signed by the artist in the lower right, it is numbered 166 / 200 in the lower left. The woodblock is printed on Junichiro Sekino water marked paper and has a partial water mark in the lower left. As for condition the piece has some older tape on the back of the paper in the upper right and left corners. The major problem with the woodblock is that is is very water stained on the back in the bottom of the print. The back of the piece has a light brown water stain from when the old brown cardboard that this piece was originally framed in became wet some time ago. The good news is that the staining on the back is not as noticeable on the front as it is on the back. The water stain mainly runs through the black color of the woodblock so it is covered up. You can see some light brown staining in the margins along the bottom. There is also some slight paper wrinkling from the previously wet paper in the bottom center margin. A lot of this light staining and wrinkling would be covered once the piece was matted and if you are a paper restorer you could probably easily clean the work as the paper is quite thick. Introduction: Joichi Hoshi describing background and philosophy of his works. Book Size: 10.75″ by 8.63″. Condition: Very Good with no issues noted such as ripped pages, water marks, discoloration along edges or any other type of damage; Slight scuff upper right corner front. Note: light areas on right side of book cover images are reflection from outdoor lighting. Language: English and Japanese. Illustrations/Essays: 162 color illustrations with Title (Japanese and English), Date, Size and Edition size (Appendix also contains the same information). This woodblock print is by Hiroshi Yoshida (18761950), perhaps the greatest and most famous of all 20th-centuryJapanese print makers. Title: Chion-in Temple gate, from the series Eight Scenes of Cherry Blossoms. The original frame bore a sticker reading: Acquired Sept. This sticker has been preserved and comes with the print. The print suffers from some toning and discoloration to the rear. The photos should be your guide to all condition questions. The print does not include frame.
