A fascinating masterpiece collection with vivid colors that feels even dizzy. The author Furuya Korin was a artistic figure in Kyoto, which was regarded as a successor to Kamisaka Sekka. He had announced his work using Korin’s issue from love and respect for Ogata Korin (A Japanese painter, lacquerer and designer who integrated the Japan major painting school Rinpa). He was also active in the publication of design books, evolved the Rimpa school’s technique inherited from the master Sekka, left many impressive designs that fused tradition and innovation. He has passed away because of a sudden illness at the young age of 35, but the work he left has never been less, and continues to fascinate people without fading. No registration mark (kento) on the keyblock, it was probably used for single color prints (sumi ink). Beautifully preserved, except for the few minor imperfections due to age (which can be seen in images). I believe it’s a unique piece of nihonga. The base of the block is probably cedar or cherry, the 2 peacocks are made out of metal, probably bronze or steel. Can be used for printing on washi/textiles or embossing. 12 Kiyoshi Saito Real Woodblock Prints Boxed New Old Stock Mint Condition. Each authentic woodblock print measures 4.63 inches by 3.5 inches edge to edge while the images themselves measure 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches. This set consists of 12 different images with each one titled and numbered for the set. It comes in its original box. Each was made in the form of a card with a matching protective envelope. These are the earlier works of the famous Japanese woodblock print artist Kiyoshi Saito. They were produced on high-quality Japanese Washi paper. The age of this set is from the 1950′s and it is in mint condition. Each image is titled and numbered. In sequential order they are: 1. Haniwa, ancient pots, 2. Winter in Aizu, 4. JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT BY TAKEJI ASANO RAIN IN SANJYUSANGENDO TEMPLE, KYOTO. SIGNATURE: Takeji in Lower Right of Scene. FIRST PUBLISHED: 1953 ATTRIBUTES: Title in Japanese in the left margin and in English in the bottom margin. Gei Water Mark Visible when held to Light. Unsodo Publishers Seal, Printers Seal and Carvers Seal in Right Margin. The Kento Cut in the Bottom left Corner of the Washi Made in the Printing Process is Added Proof of a Genuine Unsodo Origin. SIZE 40cm x 27cm (15.5 inches x 10.6 inches). Printed from the original carved woodblocks. TAKEJI ASANO was born in Kyoto in 1900 and lived to 1999. He began a study of art in his youth. In 1919 he graduated from the Kyoto City School of Fine Arts and Crafts and then from the Kyoto City Specialist School of Painting in 1923. Among his Early Teachers was the artist and printmaker Tsuchida Bakusen and Asano helped to organize the Kyoto Creative Print Society (Kyoto Sosaku-Hanga Kyoka) in 1929. In 1930, Takeji Asano along with some other members of the Creative Print Society contributed several designs to a series of prints titled Creative Prints of Twelve Months in new Kyoto (Sosaku-hanga shin Kyoto junikagetsu). Which were published by Uchida. He expanded his skills in print design as well as learning the skills of carving and printing which enabled him to create some self-carved and self-printed series of landscape prints. His main fame came in the 1950s and many of his works have been published by Unsodo.
