RARE Takahashi Shotei Japanese Woodblock Print Pre-1923 Pre Quake NIGHT FISHING

It is called Night Fishing and it is a PRE earthquake print. It is from before 1923. It has the Shotei name seal and a very rare Watanabe 5-petal seal with the number “3″ in Japanese. This is an early inventory number of Watanabe Publishing. I had some help on this print from the owner of Shotei website (easy enough to find). After seeing this print he added a note to his website that reads: Pre-quake version of M-2. A copy of this print has been found with an early Watanabe 5-petal cartouche containing the number’3′ just below the artist’s seal. He added this after seeing photos of this print that I sent him. It sounds like this could be the first one like this seen. I know for sure this is a pre quake print but I do not know the exact date. I’m guessing that it is 1920 or before as in 1921 he started using Hiroaki as his signature. The print he shows is not my print he just added the info from my seal mark that hasn’t been seen before. The print is in excellent condition and measures 14 7/8″ x 6.75″ (37.8cm x 17.2cm). It is not often that a pre-quake print by Shotei comes up. A super piece for any collection. NOTE: I have a second Shotei print called “Rain Over Makura Bridge” with a No. 12 in 5-petal seal and I was told by the owner of Shotei site that this was 1907 or 1908.
