Unichi mentored and influenced many print artists from all over Japan. He is the very famous wood-block print artist who mentored global artists representing Japan, such as Mr. Azechi Umetaro, and Mr. Hiratsuka Unichi’s pupil. Yuasa is Shikou Munakata’s elder fellow pupil. Yuasa has inherited Mr. Unichi’s style and technique deeply, his work is very popular. Many print artists are in Kyoto now. But there are only two monochrome print artists. Yuasa expresses all the shades of a monotone like a drawing in India ink. His unique monotone technique produces a print which appears more beautiful than many color wood-block prints. Yuasa’s posture and work which continue expressing cultural scenery of Japan in the monotone world, inheriting Japanese traditional culture. About the wrinkles of the edge of a work. Wrinkles and a fold may sometimes be attached to the edge of a wood-block print work. These wrinkles are generated during the process in making a wood-block print. Before printing a wood-block print, Japanese paper is made which is wet from the process. The paper is then dried before it is used. Black ink is applied to the wood-block, the dried paper is put on the wood-block, and pressure is applied to produce the print on the paper. Wrinkles are produced due to differences in the elastic rate of the Japanese paper. The wrinkles are characteristic of the printing process using paper and are proof that the print was made by the traditional process. Magokorodo puts in and ships a work to the pipe type corrugated paper like a photograph. The works which the customer bought are wrapped in the transparent plastic back so that it may be wrapped in soft Japanese paper or may not get wet. 36cm / 14.17. 46 cm / 18.11. The item is insured.
