Vintage Suiho Matsumura Woodblock Print Set with Frame
Author: adminJul 18
Vintage Suiho Matsumura Woodblock Print Set with Frame. This piece is based on a design by the renowned Kyoto Yuzen pattern designer, Mr. Suiho Matsumura, who was active from the late Taisho era to the early Showa era. Originally, it was designed as a pattern for the hem of men’s undergarments (juban). This design was later adapted by the first owner of PyonPyon-do, Mr. Ihei Okamoto, who turned it into woodblock prints and produced them as decorative pochibukuro (small gift envelopes). This practice has continued from the Taisho and Showa eras to the present day. Both pochibukuro designs are based on circles, triangles, and squares, and they are so modern-looking that they can be easily mistaken for contemporary works. These are among our representative works and have gained popularity with many people. Frame Size L 18.3inch x W 15.35 inch /. We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as? Japan, US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior. About Importer’s Obligation. Thank you for your understanding.
