I have for Sale an extremely rare Complete set. Vol 1 – 10 EHON TOYOTOMI KUNKOUKI Original 1st Edition set. Dating to 1857 (Ansei 4) with artwork by Kuniyoshi with upto to 10 illustrations in each Volume. This is the only complete set I have seen for sale, so many of these volumes have been broken up to sell the prints separately so even finding single volumes is hard but all 10 is very rare. This 10 volume set cornicles the life and exploits of Toyotomi Hideyoshi a warlord of the Sengoku period (1536 – 1598) who almost achieved the unification of Japan and end the wars that had been ravaging the Country. Each of the volumes are bound in a pale green Washi with soft rice paper pages. Each book is complete with no missing pages of print or images. There is no worm or moth damage which is rare and the condition is good to fair with the usual wear and stains to the bottom of the pages caused by turning each page. Each volume has different marks and stains Volume 8, 6 has a small bit of burn to a few pages Volume 9 has a very small burn to the edge and volume 3 has a pea size burn which goes through the cover and two pages. Volume 7 has it’s title strip missing and volume 2 and 4 have the bottom bit missing from the title strip. The photos taken have been done at random in each book to try and give an even assessment of condition which does vary from volume to volume and in some books page to page. Some of which are very clean and others showing signs of their age being a bit thin at the bottom of the pages but all the text and images are good and these are amongst the best I have seen.
