This book is a magnificent pictorial narrative of the story of Dengyo Daishi Saicho, founder of Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei, a huge monastery in Japan, and published to coincide with commemorative events related to Buddhism. The pictures were painted by Tuchiya Shuka, who was active in the business of reproducing classical books, in addition to other famous Japanese painters of the time. This item is not new.
