(75 x 36.7 cms) The scene shows the occasion of 1000 Cranes (symbols of longevity and good luck) being released on the shore at Yuigahama by the Shogun, Minamoto no Yoritomo as an offering to the Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine The baskets which contained the cranes together with their attendants, are lined up on the shore. The unusual and attractive print is one of the less known of Kuniyoshi’s many triptychs. Although the colours are original the three sheets have some condition problems. There are various fold lines which can be seen on the photos, the vertical line on the centre sheet has been reinforced on the reverse, the bottom edges which were somewhat ragged from wear have been reinforced on the reverse. There are several minor repairs here and there (see photos) and some minor touching-in on some repaired fold lines. Please note that the three sheets are not joined.
