Mori-shi was a family of Japanese people descended from the Seiwa Genji. Their line descended from Minamoto no Yoshiie (also known as Hachimantaro) through his seventh son, Minamoto no Yoshitaka, proprietor of Mori-no-sho in Sagami Province. His son, Minamoto no Yoritaka, took Mori as his surname when he retired, and Yoritaka’s son Yorisada continued to use the surname. During the Sengoku period, the Mori served under Oda Nobunaga. Mori Yoshinari fought with Nobunaga for Kiyosu Castle, and with his son Mori Yoshitaka joined the campaigns against the Saito, Azai, and Asakura. Father and son died in the battle against the Azai-Asakura armies, and Mori Nagayoshi, second son of Yoshinari, became head of the house. Yoshinari’s son Nagasada, known as Mori Ranmaru, died with Nobunaga in the Incident at Honno-ji. The family became daimyos under Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and for five generations headed the Tsuyama Domain in Mimasaka Province as tozama daimyo. Nagayoshi had lost his life in the Battle of Komaki and Nagakute. Their descendants became viscounts in the Meiji peerage. We take pride in sourcing the best quality and most. Shirani Kasamatsu Shirani Kasamatsu, who will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his death in 2021, studied Japanese-style painting under Kiyokata Kaburaki with Ito Shinsui and Kawase Tomoe Sui, and left nearly 400 woodblock prints during his lifetime. From around 1919, Shirani, along with Tomoe, published numerous woodblock prints at the Watanabe Print Shop, and attracted attention as one of the standard-bearers of the “new print” movement. After the war, he began to produce new woodblock prints for Geisodo, a publisher in Kyoto, and from around 1955, he also began to produce self-printed, self-engraved, and self-released “creative prints”. This book is the first definitive collection of Shirani Kasamatsu’s major woodblock prints, covering his life-long involvement with woodblock prints. Please be aware of this. Arrival may be delayed due to busy logistics periods, political situations, economic situations, disasters, infectious diseases, or other causes. Please be aware of this in advance.
