Colorful house/temple woodblock print by listed Japanese master printer Katsuyuki Nishijima. It is unframed, size of image 37.5x26cm (14.75×10.25″), overall 43.5×31.5cm (1.7×12.4″). Signed and sealed lower right, pencil inscription title? In Japanese lower middle, dated/numbered lower left. Very good condition, no sign of it having been framed before. Provenance/certificate of authenticity will be mentioned in the description, if any. Assume there is none. If an item is listed as “signed so & so” it means this is what I see and I have not done any research, usually because of lack of time. There is a difference between originality and authenticity. An item may be original but not authentic and vice versa. Items framed and under glass have not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated. Marks: print is pencil signed by the artist and numbered a limited edition. Condition: rippling along the paper edges, some wear to the paper on the back (please see photos with arrows), colors are deep (print possibly never displayed).

Art works are stuck on the board as shown. Signed on the lower margins. Nishijima has creases on edges and Kunisada has a wormhole as shown. Overall very fine condition for its age. This is a beautiful matted and framed original woodblock print from Japanese artist Nishijima Katsuyuki. It is signed by the artist and I have been told the the title translates to “It Feels Like Spring”. I took the back off of the frame and found a typed note in Japanese that gives us the background of the artist. You can also see the ink has bled through the paper. The actual art measures approximately 8×11 inches. With the frame it is 14×17 inches. The subject is one the artist has used in several of his pieces that I have found on line; a Japanese restaurant with an outdoor table.
