Hasui Kawase MINT Japanese Woodblock Print Shirakawa Castle Ruins 1946 6mm1st ED
Author: adminAug 29
This is a stunning example of Hasui Kawase Japanese woodblock print depicting “Shirakawa Castle Ruins, Cherry Blossoms”. Title “Shirakawa Castle Ruins, Cherry Blossoms”. Date 1946, 1946-57, lifetime printing. There is a 6mm black publishers seal on bottom righthand corner of print. Print size measures approx 15 1/2″ x 10 1/2″. No tears creases or fading, clean backside and front. It has since been removed. It was attached at two mounting points on the back, top side of print. When removed some of the paper jacket was torn and is still attached to print. I have attached 2 photographs of the print with torn pieces of the jacket still attached. These could be removed but I chose to leave them as to not damage the print. To clarify there is no damage to the print itself, just has pieces of jacket still attached. There are two drying pinholes. Other than that this print is Flawless. This print has been stored in climate controlled environment with no exposure to light. As you can see, the paper on this print has very little, if any, signs of yellowing. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have. The item “Hasui Kawase MINT Japanese Woodblock Print Shirakawa Castle Ruins 1946 6mm1st ED” is in sale since Thursday, August 27, 2020. MINT! 1950s Paul Jacoulet Mermaid Jade Mica Original Japanese Woodblock Prints
Author: adminApr 10
Both greeting card size prints have been stored flat inside original envelopes since first being acquired in Karuizawa, Japan circa 1957. These were acquired at the Jacoulet studio and passed down within a single family. There was also a green colored pamphlet (Artist Bio) and additional catalog by Florence Wells. I only have these pieces left in the collection. Provenance: I acquired a large group of Jacoulet items that have been dispersed over the years. The entire group was from Jacoulet’s working studio. This color copy of the “Mysterious Pacific” – Mermaid print (7 -1/2 x 5 -1/8) came with this material. It looks to be from around the same period as all the other material; circa 1957. It has faint signs of toning in the margins of the paper, but the image is fresh and bright. Again, it’s not a print but a color copy that may have been used at the print studio… Maybe to assist in the printing process of creating the greeting card size version of, “Mysterious Pacific” – Mermaid. Not sure if it has value, but it’ll be included with the two greeting card prints so the three items stay together. The item “MINT! 1950s Paul Jacoulet Mermaid Jade Mica Original Japanese Woodblock Prints” is in sale since Monday, April 6, 2020. This item is in the category “Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Prints”. The seller is “sho88gun” and is located in Sacramento, California. This item can be shipped worldwide.
