VINTAGE KUNIHIRO AMANO “BIRD TRANSFORMS ROCK” LARGE SIGNED AND NUMBERED 19/50 LIMITED-EDITION MOUNTED WOODBLOCK PRINT FROM 1967. Here’s a wonderful LARGE signed/numbered LIMITED EDITION woodblock print created by the Japanese Sosaku Hanga (Creative Print Movement) artist Kunihiro Amano b. It measures 20 1/2″ x 30″ (images 18 1/2″ x 28″) and features a large bird and smaller cropped bird “fossilized” onto flat planed rocks on a nicely grained wood board image. The birds have ABSTRACT GEOMETRY superimposed into their bodies and there’s cropped abstract cherry tree branches on the right side suggesting a cherry tree outside of the picture plane. It’s HAND-SIGNED with the title in Japanese and “19/50″ and “Kunihiro Amano” and “’67″ (1967) in pencil in the lower-left outer margin corner (see photo). This large woodblock print is number 19 out of only 50 made and is quite rare to find! It’s mounted on old mounting board (see photo of back) and awaits matting/framing. This vintage large mounted woodblock print is in good condition for being 55 years old but has old stain spots in the upper-left and lower-left margin edge corner areas not visible in the printed images (would not be visible with matting). The lower-left corner area has a few tiny surface scratches which doesn’t detract. The upper-right corner margin edge area has a tiny corner bump with a little matting board loss not affecting the images. The outer margin edge has some lite toning spots not affecting the images. This listing is for a Japanese woodblock print by the noted artist Masaji Yoshida and is titled Novel Growth no. 2 double oban size print – see last image for dimensions. Sheet is approx 18″ x 22 1/2″. While the print is not framed it appears to have been stored casually as some creasing is evident. No tears, margins intact. The creases will even out over time. The Yoshida family of artists has represented Japan for almost a century. Masaji is one of the founders of the Sosaku Hanga movement. From the Lavenberg site. Hello, you are viewing my listing for an Antique Japanese Woodblock Print showing Samurai Warrior Images as well as Wording. This is a Large Framed woodblock print with a glass front. The detailing and layout reminds me of a comic book. This artwork with the frame weighs 7.2 pounds and measures 31″ wide by 20 and 1/4″ tall. The woodblock art by itself measures 25 and 1/4″ wide by 15 and 1/2″ tall. This art is in good condition with minor wear present. There are no rips, tears, or repairs. Octopus’ woodblock print, 2018. For this print I used a huge elm log with a strong grain, printed in a way that shows off the natural beauty of the timber. This was created from a diseased tree that needed to be felled anyway. Printed on 200gsm Heritage paper, a thick off white paper. Ink – Oil based prussian blue. Paper size – 85 x 100cm. Image size – 76 x 87cm. Printed in a limited edition of just 20! Signed and numbered on the front. Each print is individual and varies slightly. A Rare Early Scene by this Great Kyoto Artist Showing a Gorgeous Scene of Snow Falling on a Gion Canal and a very lucky find so it is offered at a fantastic low price. MASAO IDO was born in North-East China in 1945 then moved to Japan in 1946 where he has lived ever since.
