Born in Shinano Province, he was the younger brother of the caricaturist Shuntei Sankyo. He began his career in 1812, painting portraits of actors and beauties, and produced illustrations for more than 200 printed books, including Tamenaga Shunsui’s Jinjo-bon. He greatly influenced his colleague Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Pose in which a woman kneels. Standing or sitting in a kimono is difficult to handle on one’s feet; however, it is also an expression of femininity. I believe that this pose expresses the unique feelings of a woman absorbed in something. This is an unusual pose even for a beautiful woman. Dimensions: W10.24 x H15.16inches.
