Original Antique Japanese Woodblock Print OHARA KOSON’Diving Mallard’ Framed. Please scroll down for lots more photos. An antique Japanese woodblock print by Ohara Koson (1877 – 1945) of a diving Mallard duck, housed in it’s original glazed frame with framers label verso, and dating to the early 20th century circa 1900 – 1910. The print depicts a Mallard duck diving under the surface of a still pond, it’s head partially visible below the water, and with foliage to one side. The print is housed in it’s original black wooden frame, glazed, and with original framers label verso of’T. Murray and Son, Carvers, Gilders, & Printsellers, 106 Nethergate, Dundee’ (Thomas Murray was listed at this address in the Dundee Post Office directories during the late 19th / early 20th century). Frame approx 25.6cm x 27cm. Good antique condition with expected light toning and fading commensurate with age. The only points to note are a spot of light foxing above the ducks head (last photo) and a couple of specks of dust under the glass (the print has never been removed from the frame).
