“Mid-Autumn” of the “Birds and Flowers of Japan” series, self-printed by Rakusan. The series was comprised of 100 different prints, printed in a limited edition of 200. The designs were only available by private subscription and were issued two per month starting April 24, 1929. There is a vertical center fold, however it is not visible when framed on the front, only on the back. There are gold flakes on the print, making it even more special. Lovely colors and subject. Print is 15″H x 20″W, framed 23″ W x 18″H. Metal frame with acid-free matting and UV-resistant plexiglass.

This is a lovely antique original print by Utagawa Kunisada, also known as Toyokuni III Signed, dated and stamped on upper and lower right. It is titled view of Ise Divers Processing Abalone; it is the right part of a triptych. Framed and matted under glass in a gilt imitation bamboo wood frame with fine raw silk matting. Utagawa Kunisada (1786 – 12 January 1865), also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III, (Sandai Utagawa Toyokuni), was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist. He is considered the most popular, prolific and commercially successful designer of ukiyo-e woodblock prints in 19th-century Japan. In his own time, his reputation far exceeded that of his contemporaries, Hokusai, Hiroshige and Kuniyoshi. Condition: Very good condition. Framed and matted with raw silk under glass. This is a lovely antique original print by Toyohara Kunichika of a beautiful woman wearing a lavish kimono decorated with koi and cranes. Signed and stamped at upper left and lower right. Professionally framed and matted under glass in a gilt wood imitation bamboo frame. The back of the frame has a typed description that reads Kunichika b. 1900 / The beautiful woman Nakagawa of the / Tea house Nakamanji by cherry trees. Date of Issue, Jan. This is part of the triptych Modern Beauties, where he painted some famouse courtesans. Toyohara Kunichika (30 June 1835 – 1 July 1900) was a Japanese woodblock print artist. Talented as a child, at about thirteen he became a student of Tokyo’s then-leading print maker, Utagawa Kunisada. His deep appreciation and knowledge of kabuki drama led to his production primarily of yakusha-e, which are woodblock prints of kabuki actors and scenes from popular plays of the time. An alcoholic and womanizer, Kunichika also portrayed women deemed beautiful (bijinga), contemporary social life, and a few landscapes and historical scenes. Condition: Very good condition.
