Hasui Kawase, a student of Kiyokata, was influenced by Shinsui’s “Eight Views of Omi” and turned to printmaking. The blue color called “Hasui Blue” is Hasui’s characteristic color, and the various blues expressing water and air have attracted not only Japanese but also many foreigners, including Steve Jobs. The Shinbashi Bridge is located in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, and is a beautiful bridge with vermilion paint that is suitable for decorating the front entrance of Nikko.
