Condition – This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Light horizontal fold near bottom of left panel, light. A couple light creases at edges, small spot in margin. Please see photos for details. Beautiful, large format triptych depicting a garden with the “Three Friends of Winter, ” pine, bamboo, and plum. The trio of trees symbolizes steadfastness, perseverance, and resilience. At left, a tall pine towers over the garden pond, with stone slabs forming a bridge across the water below. In the center, a cluster of bamboo lines the walkway in from of a house. At right, a plum tree is covered with beautiful pink blossoms and buds, with a few birds perched on the branches. The pond is surrounded with shrubs and trees, with a row of evergreens shaded in blue and snow-capped mountains in the distance. A lovely design, commissioned by the Franklin Mint in 1980 and printed in Toshi Yoshida’s studio in Japan. The only triptych ever created by Toshi Yoshida, this beautiful image is rarely seen on the market and would make an impressive framed presentation. Toshi Yoshida Set of 3 Woodblock Print Friendly Garden Japanese Pine Bamboo Plum. This set of three is called “the friendly garden” and they are among Yoshida’s most desired woodblocks. Published, printed, and carved by Yoshida, the three pieces are individually titled “pine tree”, “bamboo tree”, and “plum tree”, and were produced from 19 hand carved blocks. All three are signed in pencil lower right, “Yoshida Toshi” in kanji. Each one is framed in its original teak frame, measuring 31? Colors are bright with little to no fading. Frames have minor wear and Nick’s from storage. The silk matting has slight thread separation, but no major loss or damage. Back of one has minor tear in paper top right. Pair of beautiful Japanese woodblock prints for your home or office. And printing from all around the world. His style is very Westernized, and his attention to detail is exceptional. These two prints, are part of a trio called the The Friendly Garden which highlights the beautiful tree’s commonly found in Japanese landscapes, and in these prints we have the Pine Tree, and the Bamboo (the 3rd print, The Plum Tree is missing and not included). These are in excellent condition and had been re-framed and matted at some point in the past, placing them in gold metallic frames with plexiglass and blue-gray mats. It is not known if the plexiglass has UV protection or not, but the prints seem to have retained most of their original colors. No damage to the prints, or mats or frames (other than minor wear and tear which is otherwise not noteworthy) and measure aprox. 25.5″ tall and 15″ wide (framed). Thank you for your interest!
