This beautiful set of three Vintage miniature woodblock prints made in Japan is a must-have for any collector of Japanese art. The prints were crafted by Ushido, handmade in Japan, of what I believe to be Benji Asada woodblock prints and are post-1940 in age. The multi-color designs are vintage reproductions of traditional Japanese prints. The prints are framed and ready to hang in your home or office. The backing of each print is paper, and on opening, have a stamped message “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”, while the paper has snowflake and bird watermarks, and the Ushido mark. The woodblock prints have been placed on the paper (not attached) and then framed in wood frames with wood backing. These prints are perfect for anyone who appreciates Asian art and wants to add a unique touch to their collection. These are in excellent condition. Each woodblock print is 3.25″ wide and 7.5″ tall. On paper the dimensions are 4.5″ x 9″. Frames are wood painted black and gold. These are in excellent condition and truly stunning.

19th Century Utagawa Kuniyoshi Japanese Woodblock Print Framed Edo Era ukiyo-e. This is a lovely antique original print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi of a woman playing with a cat signed, stamped and inscribed throughout. Framed and matted under glass in a black lacquer frame with bronze corners. Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798- 1861) was one of the last great masters of the Japanese ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints and painting. He was a member of the Utagawa school. The range of Kuniyoshi’s subjects included many genres: landscapes, women, Kabuki actors, cats, and mythical animals. He is known for depictions of the battles of legendary samurai heroes. His artwork incorporated aspects of Western representation in landscape painting and caricature. Condition: Very good condition. Colors are fresh, mild fading, rubbing creasing and foxing commensurate with age and use. Framed under glass with black lacquer frame with bronze corners. Measurements: Frame: 21 x 17 x 1 inches; woodblock: 14 1/2 x 10 inches. Weight: 4 lbs 15 oz. Unless described as being new, the items for sale are vintage or used and it may show evidence of wear. For sale is a matted & framed 12″ x 16″ Tsuchiya Rakusan woodblock print titled “Grasshopper and Chinese Hibiscus”. Note the age and discoloration in the corners; this is not visible with the matting and frame. This is one sheet from a series of 36 titled ” Koshisei Gasen “. It has the Seal Code “B” of the 36 Series Seal Distributions. Is embossed in the lower margin and is shown in the photos. The print also has the signature. Raku-zan Kou-shi-sei above the Seal Code “B”. The print is matted and has a wood bamboo style frame with a glass cover. The print is 12″ x 16″ and the framed work is 17″ x 23″ and weighs 5 pounds.
