Original Rare Shodo Kawarasaki “IRIS” Woodblock Fine Print Japanese. Never framed, no stains very clean. There is a pencil note from the store (in Japan) where the item was bought, but it can be erased easily. The pencil note/ writing cannot be seen once the print is framed. Please consider the Photo’s of the actual Artwork as part of the description. Sealed with official rubber stamp, guaranteed original. Please note that there sometimes can be a slight color variation from Photo to actual art work. Kawarazaki Shodo is best known for designing woodblock prints of flowers and other plant life. First edition Shodo woodblock prints have the date stamped in Japanese in the lefthand margin. Born in Kyoto, Shodo studied the art of yuzen dyeing, a traditional art craft in Kyoto, under the guidance of Yamamoto Sekkei. He also studied Japanese painting under Shibahara, though it was his teacher Kishyo who helped cultivate Shodo’s original style of expression. Fine MCM Shima Tamami 1961 Limited Edition Rooster Bird Japanese Woodblock Print

Just out of a local house is this fine Japanese woodblock by the artist Shima Tamami b. She graduated in 1958 from the Women’s College of Fine Arts. She received a travel grant from the College Women’s Association of Japan in 1962. She is noted for her woodblock prints of rhythmic fanciful birds she produced in the 1960′s. This print is from a limited edition of 100 done in 1961. It is numbered 96/100. The print depicts a fanciful, colorful, abstract representation of a rooster. With its original black bamboo style frame it measures about 21 3/4 inches high and about 15 5/8 inches wide. The double matted image alone measures 15 inches high and about 9 7/8 inches wide. The woodblock is signed and numbered in the lower margin. It is in excellent condition. See photos as they are part of the description.
