The beauty of the overlapping colors, which is unique to woodblock prints, and the careful interaction between the print and the artist are evident in this work, which we hope you will cherish and enjoy.

He has lived in Japan since 1955 and has continued to paint landscapes and buildings (mainly townhouses and teahouses). His graceful, magnificent, and unique works have won him many fans in Japan and abroad. His prints are called “creative woodblock print, ” and are characterized by the fact that he performs all the processes of woodblock printing alone: sketching, carving, and printing. Kaoru Kawano Woodblock Print Crane Vintage Japanese Artist Japan MCM
Author: adminFeb 15
Kaoru Kawano Woodblock Print Crane Vintage Japanese Artist Japan MCM — Date unknown. 8-1/2″ x 11″ cotton paper with approx 4-5/8″ x 6″ image area. Artist name written in pencil across bottom back. Has artist stamp on front and another stamp on back corner. NOTE the condition of the paper, it has noticeable surface soiling. Also notice the lower left corner is stained. Back of print has some patches of what could be mounting adhesive (may have been previously mounted and framed). I would presume the print could be cleaned up with a clean eraser, the front has rubbing and looks “dirty” like it was stored with other items are accumulated surface dust etc. Top of paper shows some mild rippling. Notice the red ink scuffs on the bottom edge like something may have scratched or dragged on the ink and made a mark on the white border. Print area also shows similar rubbing, wear. Despite the condition, it still is a striking beautiful image. — See photos for condition details. — I don’t have a way to arrange for a local pick-up of this item, I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
