The artist name is Tsuchiya Koitsu and measures 16 1/2″ X 11 1/2″ large Oban. The print depicts The blooming Wisteria And Half Moon Bridge At Tanmangu shrine in Komeido in the rain. The overall condition of the print is good considering it’s age. However please note the slight fraying on one edge of the print. Their is also some old mounting tape residue on the under side on all four corners. This does not appear to be a reproduction as indicated by the aged coloration of the borders. Vintage 1950s-60s Japanese woodblock print. Tomikichiro Tokuriki is the artist. Tomikichiro Tokuriki was born March 22, 1902, in Kyoto, Japan. The first teacher of the young Tomikichiro was his grandfather. Later he entered the Kyoto School of Arts and Crafts with a two-year preparatory class and four years of regular training, and later a three year training at the Kyoto College of Art. He graduated from Kyoto Art College in 1923. Tomikichiro Tokuriki died in 1999 in Kyoto. The subject is Suwa Kintaikyo Bridge. Print: 16.25 x 11.25″; Paper: 19 3/8 x 14″. Perfect color and condition! As rare a combination as they come. Seal in lower right corner. Provenance: From Ex-Navy Officer stationed in Yokohama 1946. Overall size: 15 -1/2 x 10 1/4. Narazaki writes:’This is a fine example of a Hasui snowscape. The primary reason for its success is the unusual composition, which depicts the Yakumo bridge from a lower vantage point. The slender pines are blanketed in a heavy snow. The passageway is faint and obscured by the snow, and it contrasts with the thick, boldly coloured vermilion railings in the foreground’. Photos of the print are of it taken out/and in the frame and glass. Measurements: 9 ” X 13″. X15 (w/ non print bordered). W/ Frame 18 1/4 X 13 1/4. Woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige (17971858) (reprint) -’Shimabara deguchi no yanagi’ (The Willow at Shimabara Exit) – from the series’Kyto meisho no uchi’ (Famous Places in Kyoto) – Japan – early 20th century (late Meiji period). Qualitatively beautiful reprint from the Meiji period (18681912) made by Utagawa Hiroshige (17971858), also known as Ando Hiroshige. Title of the print: The Willow Tree at the Gate of Shimabara Pleasure Quarter (Shimabara deguchi no yanagi), from the Famous Places in Kyoto series (Kyto meisho no uchi). Great to excellent condition, had been preserved well under glass and is professionlly framed. No tears, colors are vivid and no staining. According to research, print is dated to 1932 and usually referred to as “Izumi Bridge in Rain” or Night Shower on Izumi Bridge. A beautiful composition of two figures running across a wooden bridge. Both are holding umbrellas, one of which is barefoot whilst carrying a paper lantern. Hallmarks: Piece is signed along left side center edge. Reverse side of woodblock is stamped Made in Japan. Dimensions: Mat Length 17 3/4″ x Height 9 7/8″. Visible Image Length 14 1/2″ x Height 6 1/4″. Print Length 15 1/8″ x Height 6 3/4″. Condition: Great vintage condition with very minor wear to print. Minor soiling to mat. Colors are strong and vivid. Print is not adhered to backing. Up for sale is an antique Japanese woodblock print. This is titled Snow on Willow Bridge by Ohara Koson circa 1927. Has the artist signature in plate, lower left corner (see 3rd photo). You can also see in this photo below the signature is the blue Watanabe printers seal. Image area of print measures 9 3/8″ by 14 1/8″. Print is in excellent condition. The frame was damaged so Iremoved the print from it. It was attached to the mat board, but I have removed it to get a full view of the print. I have included pictures of when the print was attached to the matting and also after I removed it. I hope you will do the same for me along with five star ratings when you receive your item.
