Japanese Woodblock Print GLOXINIA Rakuzan Chigusa Soun 1931 Flower Vintage

One print of “Yousou Kafu” (Western floral illustrations). Western flora and fauna paintings by. Year of publication: 1931. Print Size 42.5×28.5cm(16.7×11.2 inch) Mount size: 48 ×35 cm(18.9 × 13.8 inch). There is a light stain on the plate and some peeling marks on the reverse. He studied Japanese painting under Takeuchi Seiho and Western painting under Asai Chu. While winning numerous awards as a Japanese-style painter He innovated Japanese painting by adopting Western techniques. He also taught at art schools and worked as an art educator. Rakuzan was born in Kyoto. When he was young, he studied under Takeuchi Seiho, a pioneer of modern Japanese painting and a representative painter of Kyoto painting. The woodblock prints of Rakuzan have been reprinted using the same woodblock prints in recent years, but this print is a valuable first edition. This item is not new.
