Oriental Antiques from Collector to Collector. This is a rare accordion album that has 43 original woodblock prints by. It includes 13 oban triptychs and 4 loose prints from the series Chiyoda no o-oku “The Ladies’ Chambers of Chiyoda Palace”, printed in late Meiji period between 1894 – 1896. This is the series that Chikanobu is well known and famous for among collectors. When fully stretched out, the album is over 20 feet (6.1 meter) long. There’s an accession number handwritten in pencil on the album “74.2846″. Every print is numbered with this accession number on the lower right. The first tritych in this album would be 74.2846.1A, 74.2846.1B, 74.2846.1C. This number run to 16, which means that originally, this album has 16 tritychs. At least 1 double-side sheet (2 prints) is missing. Overall dimension is 14″L X 9.5″W (35.56cm X 24.13). 3 – 4 lbs. All 43 prints are in great condition with no tear nor crease. They’re still having great detail impression and vibrant colors. The album has some separated and missed prints, and minor tonings, foxings. Please study photos carefully for further condition detail. Japanese, late Meiji period, dated in the print 1895.
