From the series floral calendar of Japan (Nihon no Hana Koyomi). This is vintage (ato-zuri) 1972 early edition, hand printed woodblock print made from the original woodblocks. The Echizen WASHI paper of this print was made by Living National Treasure Ichibee Iwano VIII. Watermark is on the bottom left. There is light toning from aging. Very good condition overall. Size Oban Tate-e format. 16 x 11 inch. Excellent color, impression and detail as shown. Please see photos for details. Please read before ordering. He was a famous kimono fashion designer. When he was 50 years old, he decided to follow his real passion, and became a traditional Kyoto woodblock artist. Success remained with the artist. After a gallery exhibition in New York and a book publication of his works titled “Kyoto Romance” he is as famous as a woodblock artist as he used to be as a kimono designer. Size : 15.5 x 7 inches. The Hand Mirror (Blue) 1998 Very rare work by Japanese design icon Ichiro Tsuruta. This is Printers Proof for an edition of 200. Hand numbered and signed Ichiro Tsuruta. There is another state of this print with a pink background. The bulk of his work has moved through silkscreen and lithograph, now to Giclee. I have only seen two other examples of his designs executed in the woodcut medium. This is a handmade item that did not fall out of a printer.
