In the 1950s he published bird and animal prints, landscapes and “famous views” with the publisher Unsodo – alltogether more than 100. Shiro Kasamatsu worked in Shin Hanga and Sosaku Hanga style. Amano pencil signed, original mid century woodblock of girl. Not a reproduction, not a numbered print, or artist proof… This is the real deal original piece! Small hole in paper where lines in hair are, see last pics, and price reflects this. Luckily it is hardly noticed unless looking carefully and closely for it. Pencil hand signed, with indentation of pencil lines still showing. Again a deal due to the hole. Amano has become very desirable art due to the iconic mid century style of his work. A desirable mid century art piece, makes a great gift for a great price. Black rim has some chipping but minor. Corners of custom frame show wear, further evidence of authenticity. This print was made from the original woodblocks. Teruhide Kato had studied at Kyoto Art College. He was a famous kimono fashion designer. When he was 50 years old, he decided to follow his real passion, and became a traditional Kyoto woodblock artist. Success remained with the artist. After a gallery exhibition in New York and a book publication of his works titled “Kyoto Romance” he is as famous as a woodblock artist as he used to be as a kimono designer. Size : 15.5 x 7 inches.
