The print depicts a flat, modern-style image of a simple yellow home, surrounded by large trees, in the Shinano Province of Japan. The print is titled in both English and Japanese, signed, dated, and numbered “252-17″ in pencil by the artist in the lower margin. The imagery is surrounded by a wide white margin and is presented behind glass in a thin black wooden frame. The print’s measures are approximately: 19″ W x 12.5″ H incl. 19.8″ W x 13.4″ H x 0.7 D. Condition: Very Good the. Paper is beginning to discolor slightly on edges; scratching is visible across the frame. Great addition to a serious collection. He studied western painting techniques at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He is more widely known under the name Hiroyuki Tajima. Nagai began creating woodblock prints in 1946 and he signed his richly colored abstractions, Tajima, and his more literal works, Nagai. He was a member of the Bijutsu Bunka Kyokai (a group of abstract and surrealist artists) and in 1963 he joined the Japanese Print Association.
