In 1934 he studied the art of woodblocking at Kawabata Art School and was accepted by the Japan print society because he showed great promise in his earlier works. The great world war temporarilly interrupted his work and his service ended as a prisoner in Siberia. After a hectic period of survival and point war Japan’s disorganization Kawano again was recognized again in 1954 by being awarded the Koguga prize. His creative works and exceptional gift as a artist has been accepted through out the world. His work has been exhibited in New York, Chicago , Seattle and Yugoslavia. In particular his work on denoting young girlhood has given him claim worthy of national recognition in Japan proper. He is a member of the Japan printmaker society.
