Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a beautiful Japanese 2-panel folding table screen holding two original woodblock prints. Although signed, we are not familiar with the artist or age of these prints. Each print in this beautiful folding table screen features an elaborately dressed Japanese couple with calligraphy writing probably telling the “story” represented in the print and numerous other signatures/details. The colors are soft and every part of the presentation is beautifully illustrated in detail. Prints appear to be printed on rice paper which is applied to a silk background and framed with a narrow wooden frame. The frame has a gloss black lacquer finish and the corners are decorated with narrow engraved brass bands. The outside cover of the table screen is dark gray silk. Each framed print measures 12″ long and 8″ wide with site measuring 9 5/8″ long and 6 3/4″ wide. Overall measurement of each frame is 12 3/4″ long and 8 1/2″ wide and 3/8 thick. Each of the woodblock prints is absolutely gorgeous and appear to be in very good condition with no tears or bleeding of the colors. The print on the left does appear to have some minor damage on the far left in the undecorated area as is often found on old paper items although this is barely noticed. There is also some very minor wear to the silk in the upper left corner of the print on the right. Please view all photos as part of description. The hinges of the screen are tight and the screen opens and closed properly. There are a couple of minor and very faint indentations on the outside cover.
