THIS IS AN EXTREMELY RARE PIECE , VERY HARD TO FIND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR THE AGE. L eft panel above printmaker signature the title of the play ,’Toeizan Nofu no Negaisho. Left of the signature dated and printing location of the work, Ichimura-za Theatre in July, 1884. Left long cartouche escene name’Sakura Sogo Jikiso no Ba’ (the’Sakura Sogo making a direct petition’ scene). Middle and right panels names of the 3 corresponding actors and their character in the play. Ichikawa Danjuro IX as Sakura Sogo, Iwai Matsunosuke IV as Fuji no Kata, and Kataoka Gado III as Lord Higashiyama Yoshimasa. Hand crafted paper , show obvious paper fibres. Yakusha-e Print of Kabuki actors. Nishiki-e , multiple colors with brighter pigment present on blue clothes and gray areas , please check last pictures , tiny white points are brightness on it. Oban , each sheet measure 14″ x 9 1/2″. Meiji 17, 6th month (June, 1884). THE PIECE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR THE AGE , THE SHEETS WERE ATTACHED TOGETHER WITH JAPANESE PAPER.
