Print Title in Japanese in upper left margin. Okuyama Inspection Seal and Hanga-In Publisher’s seal in lower right margin. Condition: very fine (see photos). Size of print: (with margins) 11-1/2″ x 16-1/2″ (41.5 cm x 29 cm). Framed Size: 15″ x 19″ (38 cm x 48 cm). Dated to early 1950s. Note: The second picture shows the print under glass. It was thus framed by Yubido Bamboo Lacquer Framers of Kanda, Tokyo. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Gihachiro Okuyama. He worked and exhibited with other artists in different and changing associations. In 1946, he established the Japanese Art Institute – Nihon Hanga Kenkyusho – and continued to work as a wood block artist for most of his life. His prints display a fine and creative style and they are among the rarest of Shin Hanga woodblocks to be found today.
