Hand-pulled on high-quality Japanese paper made from the skin of the paper mulberry. This paper is strong and takes color exceptionally well. Framed in finely-grained dark wood and plexiglass; some scratches or dings on frame and one corner is a little loose – see photos. The print is in excellent condition, but the matting has several spots on it and will likely need to be replaced – see photos. Print to edges of matting measures approximately 20″ high by 12″ wide. Toshi Yoshida, Japanese Woodblock print, Sacred Grove. A Japanese printmaking artist associated with the ssaku-hanga movement. He worked early on under his father Hiroshi Yoshida who was a printmaker of the shin-hanga tradition. The print offered is entitled Kami No Mori (Sacred Grove) featuring a small shrine in the forest of Nikko, Japan. It was published in 1941. Sight 7 ½ by 10. By 16 ½ inches.
