CROSS-LISTED LOCALLY IN DIFFERENT VENUES. Beautiful framed Japanese woodblock print from a pristine upscale estate. Nice colors with no fading. The matting is older, so the beveled edges of the mat board are no longer white. No evidence of mat burn on the paper. This piece has not been examined outside of the frame, so I do not know if there are any marks under the mat. Light (barely noticeable) wrinkling in the lower corners of the paper that I mention for accuracy. Wood frame is in excellent condition. Presents beautifully and is ready to hang, though you might opt to replace the matting with acid free mat board. Image size is 22 1/2″ x 5 3/4″. Overall framed size 32 3/4″ X 16 1/8″. SIGNED JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT. SHIZUKANA TSUITACHI QUIET DAY. Japanese Woodblock Print is by Famous Artist Katsuyuki Nishijima. It is Hand Signed and is Titled Shizukana Tsuitachi- Quiet day. The scene shows a shop in Gion. Colours may Vary from one computer to an other. Katsuyuki Nishijima was born in 1945 in Yamaguchi Province of Japan. From 1964 to 1968 he studied the art of Woodblock Prints in the studio of the Mikumo publishing house in Kyoto as well as exhibiting his work with the Kyoto independent artists and in solo displays. From 1972 he focused his immense talents on limited edition woodblocks using traditional old buildings as his main subject matter. Katsuyuki Nishijima’s woodblocks come in a number of formats and the larger sizes are limited editions of usually 500, all hand signed, titled and numbered but normally never dated. He has also produced a number of open edition woodblocks since the mid 1970s which are hand signed and titled and again not dated. LARGE SUPERB LIMITED EDITION SIGNED JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT BY Masao Ido. ENTRANCE TO MURO-JI TEMPLE IN AUTUMN. Shows a Beautiful Autumn Scene of the Entrance to Muro-Ji Temple in Nara Dated 1997, Number 84/200 SIZE: 44.2cm x 33cm (17.4 inches x 13 inches). In Very Good Condition. MASAO IDO was born in North-East China in 1945 then moved to Japan in 1946 where he has lived ever since. He studied in Kyoto with Yoshida Koho and Otsubo Shigechika and by 1984 was a Teacher of Seiji Sano. Masao Ido is One of the Most Highly regarded of Contemporary Woodblock Artists and has Work in Many Museums including the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Boston Art Museum, the Kyoto and Tokyo National Museum and the Florence Municipal Museum. He has an extremely individual form of expression and an amazing skill with perspective and form. Amazing Mid Century modern SIGNED Japanese Woodblock Print “Moonlight Night” depicts an Owl by Kawano Kaoru. Cannot find an exact date on this though some research shows from 1960-65. Framed measurements approximately 17.5″ x 22.75″. The inside matte is about 9″ x 14.5″ The wood frame appears to have some damage mainly around the edges and the paper on the back has some tears. Tried my best to show these spots in pictured. Please see pictures for the best description. Kaoru Kawano pencil signed print. Good to very good condition. There is one small spot on print near bottom of leg. The print should probably be re-matted, as there is discoloration and spotting to matte in the corners. I tried to capture this in the 4th picture. There is also some spotting to the frame edges.
