Paul Jacoulet is an important listed French / Japanese based artist that needs little introduction! Jacoulet’s other original prints can be found in several museums and many important art collections. General Douglas MacArthur, Greta Garbo, Pope Pius XII and Queen Elizabeth II were all collectors of Jacoulet’s prints! Richard Miles, the author of “The Prints of Paul Jacoulet”, also wrote: The silver mica of the red lacquer mirror is printed over a lavender shadow of the Geisha’s shoulder. Her obi is double-printed gold and silver metallic rectangles. This may be the most beautiful and subtle of the Japanese subjects. These both belonged to my grandmother and the other one has an envelope taped to the back with a photo inside. It is an original black and white photo of the artist with 2 of her friends. These make a beautiful set. These were professionally framed sometime in the late 60s or early 70s I would guess as that is the time period that they lived in Lexington, KY. The frames are sealed on the back so I did not want to open it for pictures. Title: Le Mandarin Aux Lunettes. Dimensions: 18.5×14 in. Professionally framed with double matboard and gold/black bamboo look frame. Condition: Excellent color and impression. Very vivid with no fading whatsoever. Signature & Seals: pencil signed with red mandarin duck seal and watermark in paper reading “JP” and “Jacoulet” in kanji. Artist Name: Paul JACOULET 1896? Medium:original woodblock print.
