Here is a couple of woodblocks seldom seen together and they are of historic sites. Particularly well known is the Great Buddha of Kamakura, built I believe in the year 1252. The other Buddha is Kannon, Bodhisattva of Compassion and is called Buddha in Moonlight. Both prints were done in the early 1960s by Gihachiro Okuyama. They are large prints, with images about 15-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches. Condition for these rare prints is excellent. The Buddha in Moonlight is not often seen. Just as well as I have over 30 prints hanging in my very small house. BTW, lighting was an issue so some are with and some without flash. Although Buddha images are immensely popular, they are not for everyone. The item “Buddha of Kamakura & Buddha in Moonlight Japanese Woodblock Prints” is in sale since Friday, July 9, 2021.
