This has been hanging in my foyer out of direct sunlight for years. It is in excellent condition. Print is not clipped and measures 15.5″ x 10.5″. In frame 22″ x 17″. Made in 1927 by publisher Wantanabe Shozaburo with the 6mm Lifetime Edition seal.

Antique UTAGAWA KUNIYOSHI Japanese Woodblock Tametomo Women Picking Fruit c1850. Original Antique UTAGAWA KUNIYOSHI Japanese Woodblock Part of triptych. Tametomo in his island kingdom, seated on a rock, watching native women picking fruit and diving for awabi (abalone). This is a lovely and very rare antique original print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi women picking fruit by the sea. It is right sheet from triptych and comes with a stamped and hand written Certificate from Sekai. Please note that the last photo is for reference only, source: Kuniyoshi Project, 2024. Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798- 1861) was one of the last great masters of the Japanese ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints and painting. He was a member of the Utagawa school. The range of Kuniyoshi’s subjects included many genres: landscapes, women, Kabuki actors, cats, and mythical animals. He is known for depictions of the battles of legendary samurai heroes. His artwork incorporated aspects of Western representation in landscape painting and caricature. Condition: Very good condition. Colors are fresh, mild fading and rubbing commensurate with age and use. Lightly taped to matting (easily removable). Framed under glass with black lacquer frame. Last photo for reference only. 4 1/4 x 9 5/8 inches. Overall: 17 x 12. Unless described as being new, the items for sale are vintage or used and it may show evidence of wear. Antique Japanese Ukiyoe Woodblock Print. This is a Japanese woodblock print Ukiyoe by Yoshikazu Utagawa. The title of the kanji characters say Tokyo Akasaka Shinmachi. Ukiyoe is a genre of Japanese art that flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties, kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers, scenes from history and folk tales, travel scenes and landscapes, flora and fauna, and erotica. Antique Japanese Utagawa Kuniyoshi Ichiyusai Woodblock Print of Samurai. Dimensions: Frame size 12.5″ x 16.5″, Print size 7-5/8″ x 11-1/4″. Condition: Frame has one damage and some light scratches, please see pictures for details. He was born in Edo (present-day Tokyo) and is known for his dynamic and imaginative prints. Kuniyoshi’s works covered a wide range of subjects, including historical scenes, landscapes. He was particularly skilled in depicting warriors and samurai, often creating dramatic and action-packed compositions. Kuniyoshi’s style was characterized by bold lines, vibrant colors, and intricate details. He had a unique ability to capture the essence of his subjects, infusing them with energy and personality.
